The first instance of research for this design brief was to look at how different contemorart tyoefaces achive this while still paying heritage to the hsitorican side of black letter. In both of the examples shown the simplification of the letterforms from traditional black letter style acts as the typographic manipulation needed to make the typeface appear more contemporary.
The typefaces shown implements the general styling of traditonal blackletter typefaces to comprise the visual identity while ensureing that the simplicity is addapted in order to appear aesthetically more contemporaty.
