The first intial stage of research, due to the fact that the final outcome of the brief manifesting itself within a fashion look-book/photobook was to evaluate and analyse exisitng market examples of photography books in order to obtain an understanding of the normality for the photography imagery.
For this aspect of the visual design research a look at a series of photobooks by Hoxton Mini Press were observed to obtain this understanding.
Due to the nature of these editorials pertaining solely to imagery and excluding all need for graphic additions and elements such as iconography or typography this research provided crucial understanding on how these kind of photobooks work sucessfully.
The intention for the analysis of these photobooks was to help inform the final decision made within the designing stage. The analysis of the Hoxton mini press photobook series’ has help to outline and inform vital aspects of the design such as the placement and composition of images. Furthermore it had also helped to gain an understanding of the importance of image pairing, the understanding of which image work coherently within a single spread and compliment each other.
Within the Hoxton Mini Press series’ the composition of each spread remains simple yet effective by means of taking away additional graphic elements in order to ensure that all concentration remains on the photography itself.
