OUGD602 - Extended Practice - Schwabacher 1484 - Font File Creation

Now that the designing stage of the individual letterforms had come to an end, now it was time to take the individual vectors and recreate them through the Glyphs program in to a fully functional typeface that could be used on any computer.

Throughout this stage a number of different typographic decisions had to be made regarding topics such as the Kerning, Side Bearings, tracking and even the spacing between words. These decisons were crucial due to the fact that if done incorrectly they would sabotage the working potential of the typeface.

Due to the fact that the nature of the typeface leant itself for use as only a display typeface, additonal symbols and glyphs weren’t implemented into the deisgning of the actual typeface.

The fully funtioning font files (OTF & TTF) were then exporten from the glyphs program for use within other softwares.
