OUGD603 - Extended Practice - Léon Posters - Final Designs

Now that the iconographic imagery design for each of the poster editions was complete the final aspect of the design stage was to complete the design so that they were ready for print.

Due to the fact that the vector illustrations that are the centre peice of each design were two dimensional a simple paper grain and three dimensional texture were added to the designs in order to diversify the posters by ensuring the illustrations not look flat. This paper grain additionally aided the design because it helped to subconsiously add a signification to the vintage aspect of the film in question, paying heritiage to the fact that it is a screening of a classic film.

The posters were then finalised by adding the necessary type to round the poster off as whole. Due to the two different application of the posters, two different but similar type treatments were added. The first of these has only ‘Leon The Professional’ in type as this would be the version of which is sold as a consumer product, with the second version of the poster acting more as a means of advertisement and therefore having the location of the screening too.

The typeface decision was made due to the none impacting nature of the type, and so in this circumstance is was perfect for completing its purpose while not imposing on the most important part of the poster, the illustration.
