Negatives/Screenprinting Methods
For the purpose of screenprinting, due to the nature of how the process works by constructing designs by overlaying a number of seperate layers until the final design is constructed two seperate negatives were seperated in order to expose them separately. This was so that one of the seperation could be printed directly on to the stock and then the second of the seperations could be printed over this.
The two separations of the design were both exposed in to a mesh screen and then through the process of screen-printing composed in order to create the final design.
Colour
Although due to the fact that the screenprinting process involves the mixing of colours inks for the final design to be done by hand/eye during the printing process a number of initial colour ideas were experiemented and evaluated within the digital deisgn stage. This decision was simple sue to the fact that during a preliminary stage of the brief the decision was made to keep the colours vibrant and eyecatching in order to compliment the music itself.
Through this an understanding of what colours worked effectively as a pair was gained. Additionally the inspired the revelation that it was important to use a lighter colour as the background colour, so that the darker foreground colour could be printed over the top to add detail.
