Due to the fact that the premise of this design brief was not only to complete the editorial design for a photographic publication but also the fact that this publication pertains to fashion and fashion photography it became immiedietely apparent that it was also necessary to take part in research in to fashion look-book in order to outline if there vast difference between fashion and non-fashion related publications.
Similarly to the previous example of photographic research, the Hoxton Mini Press series’ the editorial content of the publication follows a simple and straightforward composition of images in order to ensure that all concentration when reading the editorial is solely focused on the imagery itself.
This is very apparent when looking at the extent to which full bleed imagery is used. Due to the intricate and detailed nature of the focus of the imagery in the case the jewellery in the look-book, large full bleed imagery has been used in order to ensure that all detail can be seen.
Contrastingly to the last section of the research, in this circumstance due to the fact that the look-book is simply a means of displaying the fashion products that act as the content of the publication simple typographic additions have been included to inform the viewer the details of the products shown in the photography. This acting as a means of conveying the products and not as aesthetic decision.
