OUGD603 - Extended Practice - Eden Photobook - Image Preparation

Preparation

Before deciding on the comporition of the photography within the editorial, a preliminary stage of image preperation within photoshop was necessary to ensure professionalsim. The be certain that the images came out in the best possible quality a few preperation stages were necessary to ready the images.

The first of these stages was to ensure that all of thre imager are in a CMYK colour mode as this will mean that the colour quality during print will come out as close as possible. The second and most crucial stage was to ensure that all of the images were of at least 300 dpi and over. This is due to the fact that this will mean that the images will come out with an appripriate quality for publication printing. Any lower dpi could create pixelation.

Image Pairing

Do the the fact that although my role within the whole process was to be the graphic designer there was no necessity to add any additional graphic elements and so in this circumstance my role change slightly to more that of a creative director.

The decision was left to me to choose the twenty six images of which would be featured in the final publication out of a possible over 100. More specifically it was also my decision which of the images were most compatible with each other and so worked effectively to showcase the garments. The images were combined on compatability by choosing one model shot and pairing it with another shot of which showed finer details of similar perspective of the garment.
